Members of the clergy and doctors will discuss the issues of proper nutrition at the "Artos" Festival

International Orthodox Festival "Artos" will take place on 17-23 of February at the "Sokolniki" Exhibition and Convention Center. Yet another festival on the eve of the Great Lent will be dedicated to the topic of "Culture of a healthy diet". The forum is intended to become a platform of interaction among medics, Church representatives and lay people, who will discuss the issues of proper nutrition and attitude to the health in the light of Orthodox tradition.

By dedicating the festival to the culture of a healthy diet, the organizers are aiming to answer two questions: how to get energy and productivity with the food, and also how to learn to substitute corporeal delights with the spiritual ones. "A Christian in the modern world is a proactive, energetic and happy person. The basis of such a view of life is, above all, the correct tuning of your body", - believes Alexei Tokarev, the Chairman of the "Artos" Festival Organizing Committee.

"Artos" guests will meet with Tatiana Vasilieva, a rehabilitation physician, who will tell you how to reduce health problems, memory problems and mental issues. A lecture on the topic “Spirulina and Health” will be delivered by the professor of Moscow State University Mikhail Lyamin. Questions regarding nutrition during fasting will be answered by Archpriest Kirill Sladkov and Priest Valery Dukhanin.

Priest Alexander Karzan and editor-in-chief of the "Parish" portal, Evgenia Zhukovskaya, will talk about modern vacuum sous-vide cooking technology. Master classes by Orthodox food blogger Natalia Gamayunova and baker Olga Voinova will take place on the festival site. The expert Oleg Olkhov will share the secrets of Russian cuisine. Culinary master classes and tastings will also be held by the "Monastery Courtyard", the Cossack society "Kotlovka" and the project "Tea Together".

In addition, there are meetings planned with representatives of the "Rus" charity food fund and the "Nebom Zhivy" fund, which provide food to the needy, low-income and homeless people.

The cultural program will include concerts of sacred and folk music, film screenings and meetings with film directors. You can look up the detailed program on the expostavros.ru web-site and on social networks Facebook, Instagram, VKontakte, Odnoklassniki - @artosfest.

At the festival it will be possible not only to talk about proper nutrition, but also to purchase healthy and environmentally friendly products at the fairgrounds: honey, pickles, tea and herbs, products from monasteries and farms from different regions of Russia, as well as from Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus - more than 200 participants are represented at the fair. In the food court area you can try traditional Russian, Greek and Georgian dishes.

Admission to all events is free, from 11:00 to 19:00 (February 23 - until 17:00).
