Water people in Sokolniki
Between February 6 and 9, Sokolniki Museum and Educational Centre will host a vivid and unusual exhibition of all sorts of contemporary underwater and water leisure activities, such as diving, spearfishing, free diving, yachting, surfing, or snorkelling in lakes, seas or pools – a great idea for a family walk in the park.
A secret special offer for the locals of Sokolniki district – get a family ticket at the price of a regular and bring all your family members, including mom, dad, kids, and grandparents, together for 500 RUB. Just produce your passport with appropriate registration in the box office.
Exhibition activities
- See all sorts of unusual stuff, try on a mask, stand on surf boards or touch paddleboats, buy nice fins for the entire family, and don’t forget about wetsuits for babies to make sure you can open your swimming season first.
- Take seats in the room and have a break watching fascinating movies and listening to the stories of seasoned travellers about remote places and underwater miracles.
- Visit an exhibition of underwater photography or plunge into the secrets of the White Sea micro world. Marine biologists will be hosting talks and presentations in the laboratory microscopes section daily.
- Continue with your tour and study abundant tourist offers – sweet Maldives, extraordinary Indonesia and Philippines, rough Kamchatka and Antarctic, or the lost islands of Papua New Guinea, where they used to eat tourists for breakfast just a while ago.
- Time to grab a snack – head for a huge food court and a fair of delicacies, including shellfish, caviar, fish, pilaf, sausages, a soup station or simple home-made lunch meals to suit any taste, followed by a cafe serving all kinds of sweeties. Live beer, mulled wine, or punch... Leave your car at home to take a break too.
- The most exciting event will unfold at the main stage on Saturday night. “The Battle of the Depth Heroes” at 6:00 PM will feature two most “deep water” people on Earth – Ahmed Gabr (332 meter dive) and Alexey Molchanov (130 meter one breath dive). “The Hour of Gifts” at 7:30 PM will see a hundred of presents given away over 90 minutes – tours to the best hotels, equipment, photography equipment, training sessions, and much more. Just touch your wristband (you’ll be given one as you enter the location) to a registration kiosk next to the stage and wait for your name to appear on a huge screen.
